In this paper, a new finite-volume method on moving unstructured-grid system is presented and developed for compressible flows. The present moving-grid finite-volume method includes new algorithm for eliminating and/or merging cells according to a change of geometry, which makes it possible to calculate flow around bodies which are united into a single body or separated into another multiple bodies. A control volume for discretization is considered in the space-time unified space, which assures both physical and geometrical conservation laws even if the grid system is moved as well as deformed with eliminating or merging cells. The present method is described for two dimensional space in detail and validated using simple test problems. Applications to a gun tunnel problem and a two-bodies docking and separation in a supersonic flow show a promising feature of the method. |
