| 内容記述 | Chiang Mai has positioned itself to become a creative city since 2012 and is now considering applying for creative city status with UNESCO. Chiang Mai’s creative city plan is an initiative to develop into a city where cultural and creative activities are an integral part of the city's economic and social functioning. Regarding government strategy, the vision and objectives align with Thailand's next national social and economic development plan. This research refers to “Creative city” as a strategy on urban management which is to take a balance on social relations between existing communities and new residential buildings since the extension of the city in 1963 affected the North-Western areas around old city. The first cycle of highway roads has shaped that area to what we now know as the Nimmanahaemin - Santhitham area. This area was managed by following modern city planning and restated for shophouses and single house villages during the 1980s. With rapid economic growth in the last 20 years, area usage has been turning for business purposes and has grown without direction and limit. The author found out conflicts and controversies on this area which are related to urban management such as traffic circulations, zoning, image of the city, and also community relations. These conflicts are caused by urban development without learning locals and analyzing existing communities. Moreover, the increasing number of condominiums in this area has affected community relations and urban management. “Neighborhood network” is an architectural concept from two integrating theories: “Spatial Practice” by Michel De Certeau and “Neighborhood Concept” by Perry Clarence A. Both theories are important studies for analyzing area usage, and developing physical design and social relations toward sustainable design. This research scopes on two field work scales which are urban community and residential buildings on the site. This research attempts to create strategy and application for integrating neighborhood network between the urban community and condominiums in the Nimmanhaemin – Santitham area. | |||||||||
